face when he sees his bride coming down the aisle always makes me cry. There is such an emotional connection between the two of them and for me to be a part of that intimate moment is truly a joy. A close second is seeing all the details come together in one place as well as the joy on my clients face when at the end of the day it was all they ever hoped for. I love knowing I have made their dream wedding come true. That smile….that affirmation that I did what they hoped I could do. That alone makes my heart happy. It is then that I truly realize I have made a difference in their day and it confirms my passion for planning and makes me want to continue doing all I can for future couples.

Let’s get personal shall we? I live in Apex with my husband Scotty and our rescue dog Sophie. Our son Garrett is attending App State (Go Mountaineers) and that gives us an excuse to head to the mountains whenever we can. My daughter Jessica is not only my business partner but my best friend and she and my wonderful son-in-law Jake have given me the best presents anyone could give me, my grandson Levi and granddaughter Hayden. I am a lover of Jesus and His gospel, Pinterest, being creative, flea markets, thrift stores, decorating, the color blush, the beach, hiking, camping, spending time with family and hitting up Starbucks whenever and wherever I can.

I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you better!

My event planning goes all the way back to my childhood years. I remember planning slumber parties, yard sales, outings at the park with friends, neighborhood softball games and so much more. I love organizing and planning anything! I’m obsessed with details I guess you could say, there’s something about watching all your plans come together that makes me happy. I was born in Ohio, but moved to South Florida when I was 17. Later in life after marrying my husband, I took a job at a very well-known communications company and little did I know where my love for planning would take me. I worked in the Marketing Department as the sponsorship and event coordinator for 6 years coordinating store grand openings, charity golf tournaments, local radio events as well as managing all the areas that came with our sponsorships with the local radio stations, organizations, not for profits and all the Florida sports teams. My love for planning and organizing blossomed there and in 2000 I jumped at the opportunity to take another Marketing position in North Carolina and have been LOVING it here ever since. After retiring from the corporate world, I began working for a caterer and then a local venue where I fell head over heels for anything and everything weddings. So I began planning weddings, found my true passion and Happily Ever After was created. I love making the happy couple’s day personal for them which in return allows friends and family to see and feel their love story come to life. My favorite part of the wedding day will always be the ceremony. Watching the grooms

trust and satisfaction. I look forward to all of the ways Happily Ever After will grow in the future and how many sweet couples I will witness say “I do”!

Now that you know about my journey to becoming a wedding planner, I’d love to fill you in on some other things that make me who I am. I was born in Florida, but have lived in North Carolina over half of my life and consider it HOME. I’ve been married happily for over a decade to the man of my dreams. A handsome young man and little lady call me “mama”, and how I love that role! Running my own business has allowed me to live out another dream: being a *mostly* stay at home mom; what a blessing! I have two dogs, who are our original babies, but let’s face it, the kids rule the roost now! My family and I live in Holly Springs and we absolutely love it. A few of my favorite things include: the love and grace of Jesus Christ, coffee, snuggles from my little loves, spending time with my best friend AKA my husband, my iPhone (guilty), making lists, giving to others, trips, planning ahead, plants and flowers, laughing with friends (or by myself), coffee (repeated for importance), home decorating, crafting, and of course, planning weddings! I hope to meet and laugh with you soon!

Ever since I was a young girl, I was obsessed with planning, organizing, and to put it frankly, controlling situations. I didn’t get the nickname “Mother Hen” for nothing! Upon entering the career world, I did some soul searching on what to do with my life; one day it dawned on me that I’d like to get into wedding planning - God was planting a very small seed and little did I know how well it would flourish. Getting into the industry wasn’t easy; it took many phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings in order to establish relationships and get my foot in the door. It all began with an internship for a very well known catering company, who also specialized in wedding planning, located in Raleigh. After 4 months of interning faithfully (for free!) I got hired as Creative Assistant/Office Manager. Unfortunately, the company dissolved a year and a half later leaving me at a crossroads. Do I enter back into a mundane corporate job, or go after my dream of owning my own wedding planning business? I took a leap of faith and joined a venture my mom had already begun. Since teaming up, we have grown a successful partnership and our relationship has a whole new level of depth. I am now a co-owner of a business I could only dream of running. Establishing a relationship with my clients is very important to me, and I do my best to ensure I gain their

Next Question.

In and of itself, the mother/daughter bond is pretty special; it’s a relationship that allows you to have your guard down and feel secure. Having that ability within a working relationship is really beneficial because it allows for full honesty and openness without fear of rejection or severed ties. We are family, we’re not going anywhere! What I love most about this fundamental part of our working relationship is that we value one another’s opinions, even when we disagree. This business is our unified passion, but sometimes we see things differently. What I love about working with my mom is that she always wants to hear what I have to say, and she considers my thought process. I have a lot to learn from her in that regard, especially having a daughter of my own.

I think any parent would be overjoyed to have their child follow in their footsteps but only knowing that it is because they truly have a passion for what you do and not because they feel a sense of obligation. Jessica loves what she does and it shows. Her couples adore her and I couldn’t be more proud watching her juggle being a wife, mother and business owner. Her passion for all three is inspiring and being able to work alongside her is a dream come true. We truly share the same heartbeat...in our faith, with our families, for our couples, our sense of humor and last but not least our obsession with coffee.

What do you love most about being a mother & daughter team?

Since I already knew my mom’s answer would be Greece (yes I know her that well!), I’ll take her somewhere different. It’s been a dream of hers to visit Costa Rica (and at one time she mentioned moving there… which I’ll never allow!). We’d rent a little bungalow near the beach so we can relax and chit chat while sipping fancy drinks. But we’d also need to be close enough to a town so we can visit all Costa Rican coffee shops. I’m sure we’d also squeeze in some hiking and sightseeing, taking in all of God’s handiwork! I do know one thing, we would not be working!

I would have to say Greece. I’d love to stroll the streets of the small mountainside villages enjoying some of the worlds finest wines and cheeses or relaxing on the beach staring out at the gorgeous blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. And because we both love musicals and have seen Mamma Mia several times, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt there would be some reenacting going on.

If you could take your daughter on a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go and what would you do?

This answer is going to seem so plain and uneventful; but one of the sweetest/heartwarming memories I have of my mom is riding in the car with her when I was probably 3 or 4 years old. I can’t remember who was driving, but I was sitting on her lap in the passenger seat (I know, a little bit illegal, but it was the late 80’s or early 90’s haha). It was dark outside, and I just remember the nostalgic feeling of sitting with my mom, feeling safe, secure, and loved. There was nothing special about that car ride. I don’t even know where we were going and I don’t remember any sort of conversation being had. I just know that in that moment, I felt the love and comfort you can only get from your mother.

My parents had a little poodle named Charlie and Jessica loved him very much. She would take out her toy doctor bag and take his temperature, put bandaids on him and listen to his heartbeat. She’d also put dresses on him and rollers in his hair. He was very patient with her and always allowed her to do anything she wanted with him. When her brother Garrett was born, sadly she’d do the same to him but he loved the attention he got from his big sister. She’s always had a nurturing spirit about her.

What is your sweetest memory of your daughter when she was little?

there is no sweeter bond (or team!)
